Welcome to Bay View

Trendy, fun neighborhood with a sense of community and lots of entertaining spots

Bay View is a hip and lively neighborhood located in the southeast corner of Milwaukee. The history of Bay View dates back to the mid-19th century when it was initially a small lakeside community known for its picturesque scenery and natural beauty.

In the early 1860s, the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Company began constructing a massive railroad yard in the area, bringing many jobs and new residents to the community. The town was officially incorporated as the Village of Bay View in 1879 and continued to grow and prosper in the following years.

One of the most prominent architectural styles in Bay View is Victorian. Many of the neighborhood's oldest homes were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They featured striking Victorian-era details such as ornate gables, intricate woodwork, and colorful stained glass windows. These homes are often preserved and restored to their original grandeur, serving as relics of the neighborhood's illustrious past. Bay View also features many bungalow style homes, along with more regal tudors closer to the shoreline.

Today, Bay View is a vibrant community that retains much of its historic charm and character. Residents enjoy many outdoor recreation opportunities as the area boasts several beautiful parks, which offer stunning views of Lake Michigan and a range of activities.
